Attendance at Forum cinema increased by almost 60 percent last year. The most popular films were the 2010 premiere hits: “Shrek Forever”, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”, “Harry Potter 7”, “Disco Worms”, “The Princess and the Frog”, “Toy Story 3”, as well as “Avatar” and “Step Up 3D”. Attendance for these films exceeded two thousand viewers.
Forum cinema has been run since 2003 by Iwona Bojko. Her task is to maintain the best possible contact with distributors so that the best productions reach Bolesławiec quickly. Thanks to her efforts, Forum is a premiere cinema. The biggest hits are screened at the same time as in multiplexes.
Following a major renovation completed in 2008, the cinema offers services of the highest standard and a high level of screening comfort—from May 2010, also using digital and 3D technology. Equipping the cinema with a digital projector was the initiative of the director of Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury-Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki. “It was my plan and my dream,” says Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska. “Now I am calmly paying off the instalments and am immensely pleased that the projector serves local residents. They are the ones who set the attendance record in Bolesławiec. This proves that Forum’s offerings are needed and very good.”
Iwona Bojko stresses that the cinema is more of a film centre than a commercial multiplex. “A broad offering is what distinguishes us from other cinemas,” she says. “We conduct large-scale film education for schools together with Stowarzyszenie Nowe Horyzonty. We organise exhibitions and film events. The Film Discussion Club, subsidised by Instytut Sztuki Filmowej, is operating wonderfully.”
In February, the Bolesławiec Film Discussion Club will celebrate its fourth anniversary. Lovers of sophisticated cinema will be able to see exceptional films. The programme includes “Amadeus” by Milosza Formana, “Tokyo Story” (a leading achievement by Yasujiro Ozu, regarded as the most Japanese of Japanese directors), “Citizen Kane” (considered the greatest masterpiece in the history of cinema), and “Death in Venice”—an adaptation of a novel by Tomasz Mann.
The editorial team of the IstotneInformacje.pl portal and newspaper congratulates Forum on its success. We encourage all our readers to visit Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury-Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki frequently and recommend Forum’s excellent programme.
