Update 2024-08-09

This is what it looks like today:

A Reader informed us about the matter yesterday. It concerns a chimney on the Staszica housing estate.

During the previous term of the Bolesławiec City Council, councillor Piotr Roman was urged to dismantle the dangerous chimney by Mirosław Sakowski, who is also the headmaster of the II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec.

As the head of the “Dwójka” school emphasizes, the chimney on the Staszica housing estate was in a terrible technical condition—it was practically falling apart. Once, some of its elements even fell onto the grounds of a nearby primary school. Fortunately, there were no children there at the time, and no one was hurt.

We have learned that the decision to dismantle the structure was made by Piotr Żak, the district building supervision inspector in Bolesławiec. The chimney, which according to the inspector posed a threat both to people’s lives and to their health, will be completely dismantled, cut into pieces and taken away for scrap.

We will return to this topic.
