– Officers from the Police Station in Zawidów stopped the driver of a Peugeot for a roadside inspection. A check of available databases showed that the 51-year-old resident of Lubań County had violated a court-imposed driving ban – reports Superintendent Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the County Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec.
She adds: – The Peugeot had been stolen in Germany and had license plates registered to another vehicle.
But these were the least serious of the man's offenses. The spokeswoman said: – Police officers found a plastic bag containing a crystalline substance. Tests showed that it was more than 85 grams of methamphetamine.
The result? The stolen car was taken to the police parking lot, while the 51-year-old was taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters. The man now faces up to 10 years in prison.
