As reported by lwowecki.info:
Last weekend, one of the residents of Gryfów Śląski found an orb-weaver spider in his home. The man says that tall grasses grow around his house, and these are the dangerous spider’s preferred habitat.
The arachnid was captured.
The yellow sac spider, also known as Cheiracanthium punctorium, is a species of spider from the Cheiracanthiidae family. It is one of the most venomous spiders in Poland, although its venom is not fatal to humans.
A bite from a yellow sac spider can cause symptoms of poisoning, such as prolonged pain, weakness, chills, and even inflammation at the bite site. In rare cases, general symptoms such as headaches, vomiting and nausea may occur.
These symptoms usually subside after 24–30 hours, but if they worsen or persist longer, medical consultation is recommended.
The yellow sac spider prefers warm, open areas and is mainly active after dark. In Poland, where this spider was once rare, it is now being recorded increasingly often, which may be connected with climate change and the expansion of its natural habitats.
