The incident took place on Wednesday evening at the gravel pit in Rakowice. According to the report received by the emergency services, a young man was trying to swim across the reservoir but ran out of strength.
According to lwowecki.info:
Firefighter units from the State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit in Lwówek Śląski, equipped with a motorboat, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Also sent were the Specialist Water and Diving Rescue Group (SGRWN) from Jelenia Góra, a medical rescue team from the Emergency Service in Jelenia Góra, and a patrol of officers from the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
The Lwówek-based outlet adds:
When they arrived at the scene, it turned out that the man had been quite lucky because, when he was running out of strength and cramps began to seize him, he was near a small island in the lake and managed to swim to its shores.
Fortunately, the 17-year-old boy did not suffer any serious injuries. He did not require hospitalization. What is more, he made the attempt completely sober.
