The second session of the County Council’s fourth term was held on Thursday, December 16. During the meeting, Jarosław Molenda, Deputy Chair of the Council, submitted an interpellation concerning the traffic lights at the intersection of Karola Miarki, Jeleniogórska and Podgórna streets: “I reported this problem shortly after the ceremony marking the opening of the modernized Karola Miarki and Żwirki i Wigury streets. It concerns the duration of the green light at the intersection of Karola Miarki, Jeleniogórska and Podgórna. I drive through there several times a day. After the modernization was completed, the green light lasts about 6 seconds. There have already been cases where no driver was able to cross the intersection in that time.”
The Deputy Head of the County Council added that he had intervened in the matter with the Lower Silesian Roads and Railway Service, which administers the intersection in question. A representative of DSDiK assured him that the problem would be resolved within 10 days. “A month has passed since then, and nothing has changed in this matter,” Molenda emphasized.
Roman Palczewski, head of the County Roads Authority, explained that changing the duration of the green light was being delayed for procedural reasons, but the inconvenience would soon disappear. “We proposed to DSDiK that, until then, the traffic lights be switched off and the intersection be made an uncontrolled intersection with equal priority. This was not approved,” he added.
Pay rise for the county head
During Thursday’s session, councillors decided that the head of Bolesławiec County, Cezary Przybylski, would earn PLN 12,540 per month (that is, PLN 243 gross more than before). Nineteen councillors voted in favor of the pay rise; the person concerned abstained.
That day, Maciej Małkowski, head of the Bolesławiec Land councillors’ club, took the oath of office.
