While playing with his peers on one of the housing estates in Lubin, Kuba noticed a woman collapsing onto the lawn. He immediately dialed the emergency number 112 and informed the dispatcher about what was happening, precisely identifying the location where he was.

A short while later, community police officers from the Lubin police station arrived at the scene and began providing assistance to the 49-year-old victim. The officers could not detect a pulse at all, so Staff Sergeant Piotr Tryba performed CPR on the woman for a short time, which restored her heartbeat. Constable Ewelina Rosiak worked to clear the woman’s airways.

Seeing the police officers administer first aid and hearing the ambulance approaching with its siren on, Jakub went out to the road and directed the ambulance to the right place so that it could reach the unconscious woman as quickly as possible.

These coordinated actions undoubtedly led to saving the woman’s life. Such behavior by a young person could not go unnoticed.

On Thursday (July 4) at 1:00 p.m., the Lubin District Police Commander, Police Inspector Dr. Joanna Cichla, invited the boy, his parents and the intervening officers to her office. Kuba received a certificate in recognition of his conduct and small gifts, including a “Commissioner Leo” mascot and a “Friend of the Police” statuette. A letter of congratulations for the way they had raised their son was presented to his parents, Anna and Łukasz Wojciechowicz. It is worth mentioning that Jakub’s father is a police officer, so the boy surely takes his parent as a role model.

Police Inspector Dr. Joanna Cichla also presented, among others, financial awards to the community police officers who intervened, emphasizing that these two officers have saved someone’s life before. Staff Sergeant Piotr Tryba was previously awarded the Deputy Commissioner Andrzej Struj Medal, while Constable Ewelina Rosiak has repeatedly been recognized for helping others.

We congratulate our colleagues on their conduct! To Kuba—the hero from Lubin—and his parents, we wish good health, fulfilled dreams and joy.
