Firefighters evacuated several dozen people from both stairwells in total. A basement was on fire. The fire was extinguished. The evacuated residents were freezing outside. Some took shelter in cars, while others stayed in neighboring stairwells. One person was taken to hospital.
Residents of stairwell 38a could not return home for the night. They were accommodated in a nearby primary school.
