“A man is painting the walls and railings of the underground passage” – this was the report received last Wednesday by the duty officer at the Legnica police headquarters. The officer immediately passed the information on to subordinate patrols, which headed to the indicated location.
The man was apprehended by Legnica officers moments later. He turned out to be a 23-year-old resident of Miłkowice Municipality. The man was detained and placed in police custody, while the damage he caused was estimated at more than PLN 2,000.
During work with the detainee, it turned out that this was not his only violation of the law. Police officers also proved that he had recently committed numerous shoplifting offenses.
The 23-year-old will now answer for property damage and theft, for which he faces up to five years in prison. The court may also order the man to repair the damage.
