On June 18 – at the instruction of the prosecutor from Division 1 of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra – police officers detained four residents of Lwówek County. Two of them: 40-year-old Mariusz S. and 50-year-old Andrzej S., are suspected of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, namely: an 8 mm-caliber pistol, a 6 mm-caliber revolver, 32 rounds of ammunition of various calibers and brands, and 1 parabellum round.
Most of these items were discovered during a search of the residential and utility premises occupied by Mariusz S.; the single parabellum round was found with Andrzej S.
What is more, the latter was charged with supplying methamphetamine to other people in Wojciechów – for financial gain – from June 2022 through June 17, 2024. (No less than 100 g). – It was established that the buyers paid the suspect PLN 100 per gram of the substance – reports prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
She adds: – The suspect’s 34-year-old nephew, Dawid S., was also charged with illegally possessing a significant quantity of drugs: 730 grams of marijuana, 0.39 grams of methamphetamine and 4 ecstasy tablets – MDMA. Police officers discovered and secured these substances when they detained the above-mentioned man at his place of residence.
And she adds:
As part of the proceedings, a 39-year-old police officer from the Lwówek Śląski County Police Headquarters, Łukasz P., was also detained. He was charged with repeatedly exceeding his official authority by disclosing to other unauthorized persons information about the place and time of operations planned by police officers, for example those targeting intoxicated drivers.
All of the above-mentioned individuals were brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra and questioned as suspects.
What happens next to the suspects?
Prosecutor E. Węglarowicz-Makowska:
Non-custodial preventive measures were applied to them, including police supervision, a travel ban and property bail in amounts ranging from PLN 20,000 to PLN 40,000. In the case of police officer Łukasz P., the prosecutor also applied the preventive measure of suspending the officer from his official duties.
Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition is punishable by up to 8 years in prison. Possessing a large quantity of drugs and dealing in them can result in up to 10 years behind bars. P. faces up to 3 years in prison.
