The railway infrastructure manager, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, manages rail traffic in such a way that a “replacement” timetable is introduced several times a year. Changes take place every three months. The next, third replacement timetable will come into effect this Sunday, June 9.

The tunnel between Janowice Wielkie and Jelenia Góra is open!

For regular passengers traveling by Koleje Dolnośląskie trains, the renovation of the tunnel in Trzcińsko was the biggest inconvenience. Modernization of this 19th-century engineering structure lasted more than a year, and the tunnel was closed to rail traffic three times during the works. The work has now been completed for good, and trains will run on both tracks.

After the tunnel was reopened, the train journey between Wrocław Główny and Jelenia Góra was shortened to approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, while the fastest Koleje Dolnośląskie train on this route, KD Sprinter Książ, can cover it in just 1 hour and 51 minutes!

KD trains are returning to the Baltic coast!

The fastest connection from Wrocław to the Baltic coast this summer will be provided by Koleje Dolnośląskie. It will take 5 hours and 13 minutes to travel from the capital of Lower Silesia to Świnoujście. The service begins on June 22 and will operate on Saturdays from Wrocław (at 6:44 a.m.) and on Sundays from Świnoujście (at 2:48 p.m.). An additional pair of trains will reach the Baltic coast on Thursday, August 15.

“Last year, the connections from Wrocław to Świnoujście were extremely popular among Lower Silesia residents, but we also saw passengers traveling from West Pomeranian Voivodeship to Lower Silesia,” says Bartłomiej Rodak, spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie.

KD Premium Nadmorski will travel from Wrocław to Świnoujście via Legnica, Lubin, Głogów, Zielona Góra, Szczecin Dąbie and Międzyzdroje stations. Tickets cost PLN 89 and PLN 99.

Trzebnica closed, works on the lines

As is customary with replacement timetables, periods of rail traffic closures on particular sections are planned. The holiday period will be used, among other things, by the Lower Silesian Roads and Railways Service to carry out essential work on the section from Wrocław Psie Pole to Trzebnica. The work will begin on June 9 and continue until August 31. During this period, replacement buses will run between Trzebnica and Pasikurowice.

Works are planned on the Lubin–Rudna Miasto section from Friday, June 14 (10:00 p.m.) until Tuesday, June 18 (3:30 a.m.). Replacement buses will run between Lubin and Głogów; trains will also operate at other times and on other routes that day.

“Therefore, as usual, we ask passengers traveling to work or school next week to check what time their train departs, because changes of several minutes affect many services operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie,” adds Bartłomiej Rodak, spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie.

The revised timetable also includes the closure of the Jawor–Rogoźnica section on railway line 137. It will last from July 22 until October 15.

A new stop, Jemielna Oleśnicka, will be added to the Lower Silesian connections network on the route of the railway bus from Oleśnica to Syców.
