Multicolored draperies of light could be seen in the sky over Bolesławiec (a photograph from Bolesławiec toward Kruszyn) on the night of May 10–11. Łukasz, who took the photograph, recommends watching the sky over the town this evening (May 11–12). If the weather conditions are favorable again and there are not many clouds, we may see the aurora with the naked eye tonight. And this is an exceptional situation in our area.

As the teleskop.pl portal reports, when eruptions on the Sun are exceptionally intense, large quantities of charged particles are released into space and reach Earth’s atmosphere in greater numbers. This is precisely when there is the greatest chance of observing the northern lights in Poland. And, according to experts, Poland has not had such good conditions for observing this beautiful phenomenon for 20 years.

The best place to observe the aurora is somewhere free from artificial light pollution and, of course, when the sky is clear. Tonight, it is worth looking up at the sky.
