Police officers from the Lwówek Śląski County Police Headquarters detained a 50-year-old resident of the Lwówek Śląski municipality suspected of abusing his father and sister, with whom he lived. While gathering evidence in the case, officers established that the man had been using physical and psychological violence against his immediate family for several years.
During a police intervention, the man threatened the household members with death while holding a knife and an axe. This was not the first incident of this kind. Several years earlier, the man had served a prison sentence for abusing his family.
During the proceedings, investigators gathered evidence that made it possible to bring charges against the detained man. The charges concern the psychological and physical abuse of his father and sister.
At the Prosecutor’s request, the District Court in Lwówek Śląski imposed pre-trial detention on the suspect for a period of three months.
The 50-year-old man, who acted as a repeat offender, faces a prison sentence of up to 7.5 years for abusing his family.
