Nowogrodziec police officers, conducting regular checks of truck parking areas, caught two burglary suspects red-handed. The residents of Zgorzelec County stole fuel from trucks under cover of darkness.

Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:

They arrived in Bolesławiec County in a passenger car used by one of the burglars, and for that reason alone the 39-year-old committed two offenses: since 2023, he has been subject to a court-imposed driving ban, and the car had license plates assigned to another vehicle.

The police also reported:

Inside the vehicle, officers secured hoses and eight canisters, five of which were already filled with diesel fuel. The detainees claimed that they had found the fuel containers on a lawn.

Police findings indicate that the accomplices broke into the fuel tanks of three trucks parked next to one another. Both detainees were charged with theft by burglary.

The 39-year-old will also answer for violating the court-imposed ban and using license plates assigned to another vehicle. He faces up to 10 years in prison. The 45-year-old, meanwhile, is a repeat offender and therefore faces as many as 15 years behind bars.
