These workshops are one of the components of a joint initiative by Centrum Nauki Kopernik and the Ministry of Science called “Science for You”. At Bolesławiec’s Strefa Odkrywania Wyobraźni Aktywności (Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna – Centrum Wiedzy), free workshops on accompanying children during experimentation will be held for one day. More than 40 people will take part in the workshops. After the classes, the institution will receive experimentation kits for use with children at home, to be distributed among the participants.
During the workshops, parents, guardians and educators, under the supervision of specialists from Centrum Nauki Kopernik, will deepen their knowledge of how to wisely accompany children during experimentation. They will learn about the positive aspects of learning through play. They will find out how to stimulate their children’s curiosity. Together with the instructors, they will examine scientific experiments from a child’s perspective, as well as the cognitive challenges associated with them. The program will also include exercises in positive affirmation and building a child’s self-esteem in a balanced way.
The “Let’s Discover It!” kit for independent experimentation contains not only experiment proposals, but also some of the materials needed to carry them out and educational tips to help parents, guardians and educators constructively accompany children as they try to discover the world.
The “Let’s Discover It!” workshops continue the “Science for You at Home” project from the past three years. This year’s edition will bring our workshops to 20 locations, with approximately 600 people taking part.
The “Science for You” program, which includes the “Let’s Discover It!” workshops, aims to equalize educational opportunities, promote a culture of innovation and stimulate development by promoting active and engaging teaching methods, including independent experimentation and discovering science in everyday life. The program’s activities also include popularizing science in places with limited access to science centers and integrating local educational communities with academic communities. The “Science for You” program offers a variety of activities created for students, teachers, educators and parents.
