– Some criminal cases handled by police officers are so complicated that identifying a suspect requires not only extraordinary thoroughness and perseverance from the officers, but also the use of a broad range of methods for examining the collected evidence. That was the case in an investigation on which Lubań criminal investigators had been working for a month – says junior inspector Przemysław Ratajczyk from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

And he adds: – The attacker broke into the home of a defenseless elderly woman at night and then, using violence against her, forced her to engage in sexual intercourse.

To make matters worse, he then stole her mobile phone and 50 zlotys. The spokesperson: – The victim notified police officers of the incident. From that moment on – under the supervision of the Lubań prosecutor’s office – the officers conducted operational and investigative activities aimed at collecting evidence of the crime, as well as identifying and arresting its perpetrator.

And adds:

The officers’ thoroughness and commitment were rewarded – the man suspected of committing the crime was identified and arrested. This was possible, among other things, thanks to laboratory tests of the secured genetic material, which made it possible to establish the perpetrator’s DNA profile. This demonstrates how important it is for forensic police technicians to locate and properly secure traces at the crime scene, as well as for officers to conduct operational work.

The court ordered the suspect, who acted as a repeat offender, to be held in pre-trial detention. The officers: – The crimes of which the 38-year-old is suspected carry a severe prison sentence, with a maximum of 15 years.
