Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław conducted nighttime inspections on the A4 motorway, near the Czerna and Godzieszów service areas.

– Two vans travelling from Germany were selected for inspection. The drivers presented transport documents stating that the cargo area contained paper waste for processing – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokeswoman for the Lower Silesian KAS. – The officers conducted the inspection with the assistance of Ina, a service dog trained to detect tobacco and cigarettes.

She adds: – Instead of the declared paper for processing, the two vans contained a total of 20 cartons of tobacco weighing 2.6 tonnes.

KAS concludes:

If the illegal goods had entered circulation, the state budget would have lost over PLN 2.5 million.
