Residents of Borówki will have a new, modern community center. The first event booked there is a christening. The new community center was officially opened by Gromadka Municipality head Ryszard Kawka. He cut the ribbon together with the village head Elżbieta Gajewska.
Borówki village was the only one in the Gromadka Municipality that had so far lacked a building serving as a village community center or social facilities for the village sports field, which directly adjoins the newly constructed building. The building, with a terrace and an area of approximately 175 square meters, as well as social and sanitary facilities, fills this gap. A parking lot, an access road from the municipal road, site lighting and landscaping will also be created around the building.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we waited a long time for this, but as some people say, it was worth the wait,” head Ryszard Kawka welcomed those gathered. “First, I would like to welcome everyone here. We thank the parish priest, Father Dariusz Andrzejewski, for today’s celebration and for blessing the community center. Ladies and gentlemen, for this community center to be built, a group of people had to contribute to making it happen. The initiative to establish the community center came from the previous village head, Mr. Zbigniew Gortych. We sincerely thank him for that. I will mention other people who were deeply involved in ensuring that the community center in Borówki was built. Mr. Julian Bończak designed the community center. The design was prepared by Mr. Jakub Barszczyk. This community center would not exist without cooperation with Sejm member Szymon Pogoda, who secured funds for this purpose from the Polish Deal. Unfortunately, we wanted to host him today and thank him warmly, but he is in the Sejm. Ms. Agnieszka Kozioł is representing him today. Ms. Ilona Walasik, our treasurer, handled the flow of funds for the construction. We warmly welcome Mr. Tomasz Matyjewicz, secretary of the Municipal Office, who prepared the applications. All matters related to the documentation went through Mr. Tomasz, but he was not alone—Ms. Agnieszka Król also helped him and later settled the project. Many people from the municipality helped during the construction. These include Mr. Waldemar Zima, our chief investment coordinator, Mr. Janusz Górny and Ms. Marzena Kwiatkowska. We warmly welcome you. I also welcome the village heads from the Gromadka Municipality, the councilors, and especially the chairman of the Gromadka Municipal Council, Mr. Krzysztof Król. I welcome the residents of Borówki. During construction, comments were raised, and both the designer and the contractor approached the comments from the Village Council and Borówki councilor Grażyna Kawka, who supervised the work to ensure that it looked wonderful, as it does. I would only like to add that the quality of the workmanship is truly high. See how the community center looks, how beautifully it blends into the village landscape, and how its color differs from the familiar community centers in Bolesławiec County, which are orange. I think it is time for us to see what our community center looks like. I thank everyone involved for their contribution to the creation of this community center,” the head concluded.
Agnieszka Kozioł read several words to the residents on behalf of Sejm member Szymon Pogoda on the occasion of the community center’s opening.
“It is with great joy that I offer my sincere congratulations on the opening of the new village community center in Borówki. This extraordinary event is an important step forward for the local community, symbolizing unity and commitment to its development. Thanks to your continued efforts and joint action, the residents of Borówki now have a beautiful space where they can meet, share joy and build social bonds. As a member of the Sejm, I am very pleased that, under the government’s Strategic Investment Programme, it was possible to complete this project, which is so important for the municipality. I am convinced that the new village community center will become a hub of social and cultural activity, bringing many positive changes to our entire region. Once again, my warmest congratulations to the residents of Borówki on this significant achievement.

After the official opening and the blessing of the community center by Father Dariusz Andrzejewski, the invited guests drank a glass of champagne and sat down to feast. The tables were laden with delicious dishes prepared by Zbigniew and Ewa Darmoros.
“We are extremely happy that we have finally received our long-awaited hall, but as the head said, it was worth waiting,” said Grażyna Kawka. “I would briefly like to say whom we are most grateful to for this hall. First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Father Dariusz Andrzejewski for blessing this small but wonderfully cozy community center. We sincerely thank Zbigniew and Ewa Darmoros. Thanks to them, we are able to host everyone here. The food was delicious. They are opening a restaurant in Gromadka, and judging by what we have eaten here, it will be tasty and the residents will be happy to enjoy your delicious meals. I am immensely grateful to her, because I know how hard she worked together with her husband,” Grażyna Kawka said of the village head. “She was available whenever called, and I am very grateful to her for that. Through the village head, I would like to thank the Village Council and the women from the association. I also thank all the residents who contributed to the construction of this community center,” the councilor added.
Head Ryszard Kawka thanked the close-knit team from Borówki and added that he had been fortunate to work with such a cohesive and well-organized group of people.
