How do you use this option? Open the Google Maps app and select public transport, then choose the connection you are interested in. To see the timetable for a given station, click the station icon. You can then select the connection you are interested in by clicking on the specific departure time.
– The service continuously recalculates what time we will arrive at a given station. Simply search for a connection in the Google Maps app or click on a specific railway station or stop to obtain up-to-date information,” says Bartłomiej Rodak, press spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie.
It is worth noting that the service covers not only Koleje Dolnośląskie trains, but also those of its partners.
– Koleje Dolnośląskie was the first company in Poland to introduce this service also for cross-border connections, in cooperation with České dráhy and trains running on the Dresden–Görlitz line. Thanks to this, when using, for example, the Dresden Promotion, we will see the train with which our connection will be coordinated,” explains Bartłomiej Rodak.
Google Maps will also show replacement buses, namely those running to Góra, Stronie Śląskie and Syców.
Thanks to GPS technology (Global Positioning System), the location of Koleje Dolnośląskie trains can be tracked on Google Maps in real time, and users can find out about any delays.
What makes this solution superior to the already popular railway apps? The well-known apps are based on information provided by traffic controllers. A system based on GPS, however, operates in real time and takes into account, for example, situations in which a train makes up for lost time en route.
