As the municipal authorities announced today:

The construction of a new bridge over the Bóbr River is getting closer. On February 26, 2024, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman was informed that representatives of GDDKiA and Himmel i Papesch had signed a contract for the construction of two bridges over the Bóbr River, along with the reconstruction of the road system in Bolesławiec. The city authorities’ years-long efforts are reaching a happy conclusion. The company will begin work in the first half of this year.

More about the project

Road engineers:

The existing bridge will be demolished due to its poor technical condition and non-standard parameters, and a new one will be built in its place. In addition, a second bridge will be constructed on the northern side, creating two parallel twin bridges. A section of the two-carriageway DK94 will also be built.

Each of the new bridges will have a two-lane carriageway, a pavement and a cycle path, ensuring good connections between the two banks of the river. This solution is intended not only for motor vehicles, but also for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. At both ends of the bridge crossings, turbo roundabouts will be built, with dimensions ensuring smooth traffic flow and complete freedom to choose the direction of travel.

Reconstruction of the road system

As part of the project, a nearly 530-metre section of DK94 will be reconstructed, and its load-bearing capacity will be increased to 11.5 tonnes per axle. At the site of the existing intersection of DK94 and Widok Street (provincial road No. 350), a roundabout will be built, while the existing roundabout at Zgorzelecka Street will be reconstructed. The intersection of DK94 and Spacerowa Street (district road No. 2324D), as well as the intersection of DK94 and a municipal road (No. 104068D), will also be reconstructed. Bus bays will be moved outside the main traffic-flow zone, and a pavement will be added on the northern side of Generała Augusta Emila Fieldorfa “Nila” Street. A stormwater drainage system, road lighting and road traffic safety features will be built.

And they conclude:

The reconstruction of DK94, together with the construction of two bridges, will increase the capacity of the road system and improve road safety. The reconstruction is scheduled for completion in 2026. The project will be financed from the state budget.
