Firefighters dispatched a unit from OSP Osiecznica and firefighters from Bolesławiec. They extinguished the soot and secured the chimney flue. They also appealed for annual chimney-flue cleaning to prevent such incidents.
Pursuant to Article 62(1) of the Construction Law, mandatory inspections of ventilation, smoke and flue-gas ducts must be carried out at least once a year, while the chimney should be cleaned at least four times a year. This is required of owners of single-family homes by a regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration. Otherwise, we may face a fine of up to PLN 500. Cleaning and inspecting chimneys is, above all, a matter of responsibility for the health and lives of ourselves and our loved ones.
