For 30 years he served in the military, including 16 years in a bomb-disposal patrol. We are referring to the longtime head of the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, Staff Warrant Officer Radosław Mazur, who has just retired.

As the newly retired serviceman emphasizes, joining the bomb-disposal patrol had been his dream. In time, he became its commander.

Senior Staff Warrant Officer R. Mazur led 2,000 bomb-disposal operations. As he sums it up: – I am immensely happy that I contributed to improving safety in our region. That perhaps it was possible to save someone’s life. Colonel Krzysztof Malankiewicz, commander of the Bolesławiec regiment, noted that R. Mazur is “a person who has rendered great service to Lower Silesia.”

It is worth noting that there have been no fatal accidents involving unexploded ordnance in our region.

Let us recall that we recently also reported that Staff Warrant Officer Radosław Mazur was recognized by the General Commander of the Armed Forces Branches.

Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol:

Our page is dedicated to educating the public about the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance, misfired ammunition, and explosive and hazardous items of military origin, as well as the rules for dealing with them when they are found.

It is important to be aware that explosives used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their production date.

The bomb-disposal specialists add:

If you have any doubts about an object you have found, call the bomb-disposal specialists.

The bomb-disposal specialists will remove the danger; they are properly prepared to do so.

What should you do if you find unexploded ordnance or misfired ammunition?

  1. Do not touch the object.
  2. Keep bystanders, such as children, away from the area and mark it.
  3. Report the matter immediately by calling the emergency number 112; notify the police, municipal guard, fire service, or forestry service.
