Last Monday, officers from the Independent Police Prevention Unit in Legnica detained a 20-year-old resident of the city who had stolen a mobile phone from one of Legnica’s shops. During the detention, officers found vehicle documents that had come from a burglary.

While working with the detainee, officers from the Property Crime Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica proved that in January this year he had committed three burglaries involving vehicles and had used an appropriated bank card ten times.

In addition, officers from the Economic Crime Department of the Legnica police headquarters proved that he had committed fraud to the detriment of his own grandmother. Using the Internet, the man entered into agreements with a telecommunications company to purchase electronic equipment, providing his grandmother’s details.

The total losses he caused amount to PLN 32,500. The 20-year-old was charged with sixteen offences. He will now face trial for his actions. Burglary carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
