Additionally, we want to encourage those who are undecided to take advantage of the weekend offer and prove to them that traveling by train is a fast and convenient way to get around Lower Silesia – says Damian Stawikowski, president of Koleje Dolnośląskie. Thanks to the codes, tickets that normally cost PLN 59 will save Lower Silesia residents nearly PLN 30.

The discount codes entitling holders to purchase the Lower Silesian Weekend Ticket work exclusively on the website www.kolejedolnoslaskie.pl.

– We are promoting our new, proprietary sales channel, which we are developing in response to the growing interest in the services of Koleje Dolnośląskie. This is the result of numerous investments, such as purchasing as many as 31 modern trains over four years, reopening railway routes that had been closed for several decades, and increasing the number of services on existing connections – emphasizes Bartłomiej Rodak, press spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie.

The regional railway system in Lower Silesia is developing rapidly and offering passengers increasingly better services. For example, around 30 pairs of trains run daily between the voivodeship’s largest cities (Wrocław – Wałbrzych, Legnica – Wrocław). By comparison, in other regions, voivodeship authorities limit themselves to commissioning 4, 8, or 12 pairs of connections between the largest cities. In addition, travel by train, for example from Legnica to Wrocław, takes just 36 minutes, making rail travel incomparably faster than traveling by car.

– Increasing the scale of travel by an environmentally friendly means of transport, which rail undoubtedly is, is one of the goals of the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. We want to change the transport habits of Lower Silesia residents and, whenever possible, encourage them to switch from cars to trains – says Cezary Przybylski, marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

Recent years have brought further records in the number of passengers traveling around Lower Silesia. In 2022 alone, more than 16 million people used the services of Koleje Dolnośląskie. Data for 2023 will be available in mid-January 2024, but it is already certain that another record will be set.

– If we want to reduce traffic congestion in cities and breathe cleaner air, we must persuade more and more people to use public transport. Further railway records show that we are doing this effectively – says Tymoteusz Myrda, a member of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship executive board responsible for rail transport.
