On 6 December, an excellent event promoting safety in the mountains was held at the Lower Silesian Sports Centre #NaPolanie. The event was held under the patronage of Cezary Przybylski as part of the Safe Lower Silesian programme.
The event programme included demonstrations of the equipment and skills of rescuers from GOPR and WOPR, as well as the police, Polish Armed Forces and State Fire Service. There were also first-aid classes, games and workshops, including the Snow Cave and Avalanche Garden, a safety knowledge quiz, and a meeting with Santa Claus.
“Safe Lower Silesian” is an initiative focused on safety education through acquiring and reinforcing practical skills related to safe behaviour and the ability to cooperate with services and organisations established to ensure safety. It is worth reminding ourselves of the basic safety rules on mountain trails and ski slopes. GOPR rescuers helped with this; together with the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the Police and the Fire Service, they have been raising public awareness for years, while also developing education in the areas of safety, and the protection of health and life in the mountains and on organised ski areas as part of the Safe Lower Silesian programme.
The programme’s partners are the Provincial Police Headquarters, the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service, the Emergency Medical Service, the Voluntary Water Rescue Service, the Voluntary Mountain Rescue Service and the Association of Voluntary Fire Brigades.
