Five people suspected of stealing car catalytic converters have been detained by police (one of them is also suspected of burglary). Most of those detained are residents of Bolesławiec County and are aged between 25 and 30.

The group operated throughout Lower Silesia, as well as in Lubusz and Greater Poland Voivodeships. Investigators estimate that those detained may be responsible for more than 40 such thefts.

A single catalytic converter is worth an average of PLN 600. Theft is punishable by up to five years in prison, while burglary carries a sentence of up to 10 years.
