Officers from the Nowogrodziec Police Station, while pursuing leads in a case involving a break-in at a delivery vehicle and the theft of power tools, located the receiver's vehicle. They secured a screwdriver in the car that came from the alleged crime.

The 28-year-old receiver is the neighbor of the man who broke into a vehicle at the site of a wastewater treatment plant under expansion and stole power tools worth nearly PLN 5,000.

The officers explain: – As part of a neighborly favor, the receiver helped the burglar transport the stolen property, which the 34-year-old hid in a forest immediately after the break-in. That night, the suspect was at the treatment plant twice. The first time, he took power tools; the second time, he stole an engine, which he removed from a machine. He hid everything in the forest so he could return for it the next day.

They add: – The neighbor, who had a vehicle, transported property originating from the crimes and received the stolen screwdriver as payment. Meanwhile, the 34-year-old sold the impact wrench at a pawnshop in Lubań County. Police recovered it and, together with the screwdriver, returned it to its owner.

The engine, in turn, was dismantled, and the copper windings obtained from it were sold at a non-ferrous metal collection point.

Both residents of Osiecznica commune were arrested. The older man will face charges for burglary; he faces up to 10 years in prison. The younger man will face charges for handling stolen goods, which can result in up to five years behind bars.
