On Monday, 6 November, near Wrocław, Legnica and Bolesławiec on the A4 motorway, inspectors from the Road Transport Inspection carried out intensified checks of trucks transporting dangerous goods.

Voivodeship Road Transport Inspectorate in Wrocław:

The operation resulted in 26 vehicles being inspected. They were carrying fuels, gases, paints, corrosive and infectious materials, and other goods that could pose a threat to human life and health, property and the natural environment if transported improperly.

Inspectors found irregularities concerning the transport of dangerous goods in eight trucks. The Road Transport Inspection lists them: They concerned the transport of goods in packaging with residues of a dangerous substance on its outer surface; the transport of dangerous goods with a document lacking information required under the ADR agreement; the transport of dangerous goods in incorrectly marked packaging; the absence of markings on the packaging and vehicle; the driver’s failure to have an ADR certificate for transporting dangerous goods during the inspection; the lack of required protective and emergency equipment; unjustified marking of the vehicle with orange-coloured plates; and transport carried out in a vehicle equipped with fuel tanks whose total capacity exceeded the maximum capacity specified in the ADR agreement.

In addition, inspectors seized the registration certificate of one truck because of a cracked brake disc on the wheel of the front axle of the tractor unit. The inspectors concluded:

Administrative proceedings will be initiated for the identified violations of regulations concerning irregularities in the transport of dangerous goods and for the identified dangerous defect.

They added:

Carriers face financial penalties under the Act on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Road Transport Act.
