– Last Sunday, after 5 p.m., the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters received a report that in Kunice, a man had pulled a woman into a vehicle and driven away – reports junior officer Anna Tersa of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters.

Police officers immediately went to the scene and soon spotted the Mercedes mentioned in the report. The spokesperson said: – Wanting to stop the man for a roadside check, the officers activated their light and sound signals. The driver did not intend to stop and accelerated sharply.

The officers began a pursuit. As he fled, the driver violated traffic regulations. At one point, he hit a police car, then jumped out of the Mercedes and tried to escape on foot. Junior officer A. Tersa said: – The perpetrator’s car continued rolling along the road, posing a real danger to other road users and the passengers inside the vehicle.

She added: – One of the officers ran after the man. The other went to the woman with a child who was inside the moving vehicle and stopped it. After a moment, the fleeing man was detained by the officer.

The suspect turned out to be a 32-year-old resident of Kunice municipality. The Mercedes passenger was his partner. Moreover, their eight-month-old child was traveling in the vehicle.

It soon became clear that the driver had as many as three court-ordered bans on driving motor vehicles. The spokesperson said:

Furthermore, during the activities carried out, two pieces of ammunition and one blank cartridge were found in the vehicle. A metal box containing their documents and a crystalline substance was located directly next to the vehicle.

Testing showed that it was methamphetamine. The man, who has already been charged and placed in police custody, now faces up to eight years in prison.
