On Friday evening, it was Chrobrego Street, but today Staroszkolna Street is also experiencing the problem. On Friday, October 13, after 9:00 p.m., we received information from a reader who sent us a photo and video showing the quality of the water.
I have a question about the yellow water from the taps on Chrobrego Street. Do you have any information about how long this situation will last? Perhaps you could raise the issue on the forum, because the water is not fit for consumption and this is a problem for elderly people living in apartment blocks
Grzegorz Kozłowski provided us with information about PWiK’s work near Polna Street.
“We carried out repair work on Polna Street on Friday,” says the president of PWiK in Bolesławiec. “The failure was not on the main water pipeline, but on the drainage system. There was a leak there. We actually had to temporarily restrict the network to catch the leak. Consequently, reports began coming in from Chrobrego Street, which is close to Polna, and we flushed the pipes until 11:00 p.m. Today there have been practically no reports (October 14—editor’s note). The last one was at 8:46 a.m., but it concerned yesterday’s problem. We really did flush the pipes until 11:00 p.m. We had to temporarily restrict the main network, and there were three reports from Polna Street and part of Chrobrego Street. We were there immediately and responded as quickly as possible. When we opened the network, the water was flowing at higher speeds. This is a typical reaction after restricting the water supply, after which golden-colored water came through. As soon as it was reported to 994, we immediately went there to flush it at the hydrant, and shortly afterward everything was fine,” adds the PWiK president.
The problem also appeared on Staroszkolna Street on Sunday, October 15.
This is the color of the water we have today on Staroszkolna Street. There was no information whatsoever from the waterworks that anything would be done. I was supposed to make chicken soup... (angry emoji—editor’s note). And just a moment ago I drank coffee made with our Bolesławiec “crystal-clear” water (vomiting emoji—editor’s note).
Update—October 15, 2023, 3:30 p.m.
- “As for today, we received only one report, from the building at 6a Staroszkolna Street, made to the emergency number 994, concerning discolored water,” says Grzegorz Kozłowski. “The report was checked by our duty staff, and it was not confirmed that the discoloration originated from the external network,” adds the president.
