– Customs and Tax Service officers from the Lower Silesian branch of the National Revenue Administration secured 1,000 kg of tobacco leaf intended for smoking without excise stamps – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian National Revenue Administration.

And she clarifies:

While conducting routine checks on the A4 motorway towards Wrocław, officers selected a delivery van for inspection. During the search, they discovered 40 sacks of illegal tobacco leaf worth nearly PLN 900,000.

The vehicle’s driver, a Polish citizen, had no documents confirming the legality of the goods. The result? The tobacco leaf was secured for fiscal criminal proceedings. Further activities in the case are being conducted by the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław.

Spokesperson: – The driver faces a heavy fine or up to three years in prison. Or both penalties together.
