On Wednesday, 22 September, the military unit was visited by Minister of National Defence Bogdan Klich. In recent days, the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade received new WR-40 Langusta rocket launchers and the Liwiec artillery reconnaissance radar system. “A very important feature of these launchers is that they are equipped with the latest fire-control system and navigation equipment,” says Edward Hajdukiewicz, director of the Technical and Commercial Office of Huta Stalowa Wola in Warsaw. “This is the most modern equipment in service with the Polish armed forces,” adds Colonel Jarosław Kraszewski, commander of the Brigade.
“The 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade is a model unit,” the Minister of National Defence said during his Wednesday visit to Bolesławiec. “All the processes taking place in the Polish army are concentrated here as if through a lens. The brigade will soon be transformed into a regiment; it is also being systematically modernised and equipped with additional modern equipment. The Liwiec artillery reconnaissance radar system is one of our export products and will be tested under combat conditions in Afghanistan. It will enable much better identification of targets and threats.”
That day also saw a demonstration of the artillery squadron’s operation and training in international humanitarian law, conducted by the Polish Red Cross.
