The launch of the Wrocław–Świnoujście summer long-distance regional line was an important step for Koleje Dolnośląskie.

“The summer Koleje Dolnośląskie connection from Wrocław to Świnoujście was a ‘bull’s-eye’, as confirmed by the passenger numbers and their enthusiastic opinions. We have proved that regional railway operators can offer connections that are attractive in terms of travel time and price beyond their own voivodeship as well. In the future, we will certainly consider further long-distance regional routes,” emphasizes Damian Stawikowski, president of Koleje Dolnośląskie.

Seaside tourists interested in Lower Silesia

KD Premium Nadmorski stopped at the following stations: Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje, Szczecin Dąbie, Zielona Góra Główna, Głogów, Lubin, Legnica and Wrocław Główny. The connection attracted considerable interest from residents of the Lower Silesian, West Pomeranian and Lubusz voivodeships.

Lower Silesia is a fascinating blend of history, culture and nature. The region was the setting for important historical events, as documented by its numerous castles, palaces and historic towns reflecting centuries of history. Lower Silesia’s cultural wealth is revealed in its diverse traditions and artistic festivals. The region’s natural environment is also impressive, with beautiful landscapes including, among other things, the varied ranges of the Sudetes and picturesque valleys that attract nature lovers and enthusiasts of active recreation.

Koleje Dolnośląskie—development and major investments for its 15th anniversary

In recent years, Koleje Dolnośląskie has gained a reputation as a leader in railway services by raising travel standards and investing in modern rolling stock. The continual expansion of its network has resulted in an impressive record: in July, the operator covered one million kilometres. In August, a service hall was opened in Legnica. Thanks to this investment, the operator will significantly reduce train maintenance costs.

“Under an agreement with Pesa Bydgoszcz, by 2024 Koleje Dolnośląskie’s fleet will grow by 25 modern, five-carriage Elf 2 trains of the latest generation. As a result, the number of vehicles available to our company will increase to 88. As many as 65% of them will be electrically powered,” adds Bartłomiej Rodak, press spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie.

In line with its long-term development strategy, the company is systematically modernizing and expanding its technical facilities. In recent years, the operator has purchased as many as 31 modern passenger trains, thereby becoming the owner of Poland’s largest fleet of Elf2 vehicles.
