On August 23, 2023, our house partially collapsed in Rząśnik (Świerzawa municipality). The construction disaster suddenly turned the lives of our family of six upside down and claimed the lives of two wonderful men.
The building collapsed during renovation work on our house, which our neighbors Piotr and Marek were helping us with. They were the ones whose lives the disaster claimed. I was in the other part of the building with my seventeen-year-old daughter, Wiktoria. Fate spared us, and we managed to escape. I am grateful for this, and also that my husband and our three other children were not at the scene at the time. I am thankful that my family is still complete. However, we all deeply mourn the victims of the tragedy and ask ourselves what the future holds for us…
The psychological and material losses are enormous. To make our house fit for use, it will be necessary to install new roofing, a new electrical system and heating system, as well as carry out a major renovation. The associated costs far exceed our family’s financial means. Having been left without a roof over our heads, we received temporary accommodation, which requires us to purchase the items necessary for basic living. The needs are, and will continue to be, enormous.
The tragedy that occurred will remain in our memories forever. We know that returning our family to our former life will be a very long and difficult process. That is why we are appealing to kind-hearted people for support. Despite our bitterness and fear, we hope that better days will return. Every act of help will mean a great deal to our family, and we will be endlessly grateful for it.

According to tvn24.pl:
(…) the incident occurred when two workers were in an excavation next to the building being renovated. Both died after being buried under rubble.
The first victim of the disaster was found at around 2:00 p.m.; firefighters from Złotoryja reached the second before 5:00 p.m.
The house has been deemed unfit for use. The police and prosecutor’s office are determining the causes and circumstances of the tragedy.
As a reminder, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 23. According to the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław:
A construction disaster occurred in Rząśnik (Złotoryja County); the building partially collapsed—the report was received at 11:11 (...).
The uniformed services: — A rescue operation is currently underway, and injured people are under the rubble. PSP and OSP units, as well as a search-and-rescue team from Wałbrzych, are involved.
