On Sunday, September 5, a 42-year-old resident of Złotoryja County notified the Bolesławiec police that his car had been stolen. The man told officers that the vehicle had been stolen outside one of the Bolesławiec venues where he had been enjoying himself.

The police found the vehicle very quickly. The car was on the roadside. It was damaged—the driver had probably hit a nearby tree. The police determined that no theft had taken place. The 42-year-old then admitted that he had made up the story out of fear of the consequences.

He now faces up to two years in prison for reporting a crime that had not been committed.
