The modern facilities for servicing the rolling stock of Koleje Dolnośląskie have been commissioned. The hall is located in Legnica at 1 Pątnowska Street. The new building was added to the existing railway rolling-stock service hall. The first part of the building has two storeys. On the ground floor there is an automatic wash facility with an area of over 1,000 m2 and a length of approximately 120 metres, while the first floor houses office and staff facilities. Another part of the building is the repair hall, where three through service bays were built on service pits with a combined length of more than 300 metres. The third part contains technical, storage and workshop facilities, as well as an underfloor wheel lathe hall.
– I am very pleased with the completion of the expansion of the technical facilities. This is a major project that is extremely important to the Investor and all Koleje Dolnośląskie passengers. A significant challenge during the implementation of this project was the fact that active railway tracks, as well as the plant and service hall, were located right next to the site. All the work was carried out in accordance with high occupational health and safety standards, for which I would like to sincerely thank the entire team and all the Subcontractors – said Robert Zawadzki, Construction Manager at ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana.
Photovoltaic panels and ventilation and air-conditioning equipment were installed on the hall roof. Around the facility, on an area of more than 22,000 m2, railway sidings, paved manoeuvring areas, car parks and green areas were created. The total floor area of the completed building is 6,598.33 m2, while its volume is as much as 67,105 m3. The project site also includes a high-bay storage shelter, a fuel station with underground tanks for refuelling combustion-powered vehicles, and two sewage servicing bays. Both buildings are founded on reinforced-concrete piles. The facility is equipped with modern exhaust extraction technology, two overhead cranes and a laser wheel-measuring station. As part of the underground infrastructure, retention tanks with a capacity of 200 m3, as well as underground fire-protection and car-wash technology tanks, were constructed. The external infrastructure included railway catenary and retaining walls.
