The meeting began a few minutes after 6:00 p.m. The Civic Platform MP was welcomed and introduced by Karol Stasik, chairman of the district Civic Platform structures. Robert Kropiwnicki then spoke, addressing the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He also spoke about the policies of the ruling party, Law and Justice, and its leader, Jarosław Kaczyński. According to Kropiwnicki, Kaczyński distracts attention from problems such as high prices, inflation and low prices of agricultural produce, and instead of focusing on them prefers to say that, for example, Tusk and Kropiwnicki are communists:

“It is absurd. He sees communists in us, while he himself forgets what he did in ’81, what his father did, and what his social background is. (...) This is a method of incitement and provocation, intended to set Poles against one another. A divided nation is always weaker and easier to manipulate, and Kaczyński has an absolute knack and talent for that.”

Many topics were discussed during the remainder of the meeting, and those present asked questions answered by the MP. Among other things, they discussed the lack of retention reservoirs in the counties, the influx of foreigners into Poland and the planned referendum on the matter, settlements following a victorious election, as well as TVP, Confederation and its possible coalition with Law and Justice.

MP Kropiwnicki also said that high inflation actually benefits those in power, because it brings more money into the state budget.

An alliance between Piotr Roman and Law and Justice?

The meeting addressed the participation of the Non-Party Local Government Members in the elections. Someone in the audience suggested that the Civic Platform candidate failed to win the previous Senate election because Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman ran in it. What did the guest say in response?

MP Robert Kropiwnicki:

“The Non-Party Local Government Members are allied with Law and Justice; I have no doubt that they cooperate with Law and Justice, and unfortunately Piotr Roman also cooperates with Law and Justice. The fact that they are together in the regional assembly means they are very closely linked. The Non-Party Local Government Members are a sham. In reality, they matter in only two cities and in the regional assembly, and they obtain almost billion-zloty sums for their campaign and pump money into a nationwide campaign. Recently in Warsaw I saw a newspaper called Non-Party Local Government Members. First, they are not non-party at all, but party-affiliated—they have even established a party by now. Second, where did this newspaper in Warsaw come from? Have no illusions. It came from Bolesławiec, Lubin and Lower Silesian money. Quite simply (...).”
