We are receiving reports from Bolesławiec residents that something is wrong with the new LED lighting. The lamps flash like a strobe light or switch off for several seconds before coming back on.
“Four lamps are flashing like a strobe light. I sleep on that side, so I can’t get to sleep,” a resident of Bielska Street, near I Liceum Ogólnokształcącego, told us. We also noticed that in many parts of the city, the lamps go out for several seconds at night and then come back on. This happens, for example, on Tysiąclecia Avenue.
Our camera recorded the lamps going out at the intersection of Karola Miarki and Łukasiewicza streets. You can see both situations described above in the video.
We asked the City Hall about the problems with the new LED lamps.
“Thank you for reporting this and for the video showing the lamps. We sent it to the contractor and the supervising inspector,” says Agnieszka Gergont from the City Hall.
Why were the lamps not lit at all on Zgorzelecka, Dolne Młyny and Targowa streets?
“Several factors were at play here. These streetlights are powered by one large electrical circuit, and problems on the streets branching off from the main one overlap and prevent the work in this area from being completed until all the smaller problems have been fixed. From the contractor’s perspective, it looked like this: two crews were working near Zgorzelecka Street. One was responsible for installing the poles, while the other handled the fixtures and electrical work. This division was introduced to speed up the work. At one point, there was a problem with the delivery of materials from the manufacturer, and one component was missing, meaning that the electrical crew could not finish its work. The three unfinished streetlights made it impossible to switch on the entire circuit. The component has now been delivered. Since Friday, the streetlights on the streets indicated have been working,” reports Agnieszka Gergont from the City Hall.
