The New Horizons Association, organizer of the Era New Horizons International Film Festival in Wrocław, and Forum cinema are running the largest nationwide film education program in Poland. “We want as many interested people as possible to learn about the opportunity to participate in the project,” says Iwona Bojko, the project coordinator at Forum cinema. “The project is intended to help teachers in primary, middle and secondary schools deepen children’s and young people’s knowledge of the art of film.”

In addition to screenings, film education also includes interactive theatrical performances, multimedia presentations, meetings with film scholars, film critics and filmmakers, as well as art workshops serving as a form of commentary on the films watched by the children.

“Ticket prices will not change in the new school year and will amount to PLN 7,” Bojko emphasizes. “This is already the third year of our cooperation with New Horizons, and an increasing number of students and schools are joining the project. New Horizons Film Education succeeds in breaking the school stereotype of treating going to the cinema as free time away from classes—that is, from the perspective of the school curriculum, wasted time.”

Forum cinema invites teachers interested in participating in the film education program to a screening of Jan Jakub Kolski’s film “Venice.” The project and its educational and organizational details will be presented before the screening. All teachers who attend the meeting will receive a promotional package from the Nowa Era publishing house. More information is available at www.bok.boleslawiec.pl.
