– When Lower Silesia residents think about a trip to the Polish seaside, Świnoujście is one of their first choices. Now the Baltic Sea will be even closer to Lower Silesia. Travelling by a KD train will be a comfortable and fast alternative to travelling by car, as it will take us to the seaside in less than six hours – says Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The new rail connection’s popularity is undoubtedly influenced by the speed and comfort of the journey. The route from Świnoujście to Wrocław, running through Międzyzdroje, Szczecin (Dąbie), Zielona Góra, Głogów, Lubin and Legnica, takes a total of 5 hours and 30 minutes. Passengers travel on the newest vehicles in the Koleje Dolnośląskie fleet: five-car Elf2 electric trains.

– I am pleased with the decision of the Marshal of Lower Silesia and the president of Koleje Dolnośląskie. This is important news for the residents of Świnoujście. I quietly hope that other voivodeships will also follow Koleje Dolnośląskie’s example and launch fast, direct connections between their regional capitals and Świnoujście – says Janusz Żmurkiewicz, president of Świnoujście.

The decision to launch the summer route is another milestone in the company’s dynamic development. This year, it is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

– We can offer modern, air-conditioned vehicles on this route. Last week’s pilot journey attracted considerable interest from travellers, which only confirms the demand for this type of connection – says Damian Stawikowski, president of Koleje Dolnośląskie.

When does the summer train run?

The KD Premium Nadmorski train runs on summer weekends and will also operate on the public holiday observed on 15 August. It will depart from Wrocław Główny for the seaside every Saturday at 5:40 a.m., arriving in Świnoujście at 11:10 a.m. From Świnoujście, it will run on Sundays from 4:40 p.m. to 10:07 p.m.

This connection is a real treat for residents of Pomerania, who gain the fastest rail access to the monument-rich voivodeship in southern Poland. Lower Silesia is a true treasure trove of history and architecture, with beautiful castles, palaces and churches. The Barycz Valley, the Table Mountains and the Karkonosze Mountains offer wonderful opportunities for nature lovers and active recreation enthusiasts. Lower Silesia is also a mecca for culture and art lovers, with extraordinary museums, festivals and artistic events.

All seats on the train must be reserved. A regular ticket for the Świnoujście – Wrocław Główny and Szczecin Dąbie – Wrocław Główny routes costs PLN 79. Bicycles may be taken on board for an additional fee and subject to availability. Tickets can be purchased exclusively through the Koleo platform.
