Free Glinart ceramics and sculpture workshops are being held at the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec (Grunwaldzka Street). They are led by Barbara Bednarowicz, a cultural animator and student of the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The classes, aimed at children and young people from Bolesławiec County, will continue until Friday, 27 August.
The workshop participants make ceramic dice, tiles with various patterns, jugs, cups and mugs themselves. But that is not all. One of the participants made... the Temple of the Crystal Skull.
“They are fantastic kids,” Barbara Bednarowicz says with a smile. “They have brilliant ideas and are incredibly energetic,” she adds.
On the final day of the classes, the participants will fire their works in a ceramic kiln. “These workshops fit perfectly with the mission and vision of the MDK. We give the residents of our county an opportunity to engage with art,” says Marek Łętowski, head of the Youth Cultural Centre. “The participants in our classes have repeatedly proved that clay is a material they work with extremely well
As the director points out, the MDK is meant to be more than just an art school. “In addition to regular classes, we try to organise open workshops as often as possible. In this way, we promote our educational offer and implement our own vision for the institution,” Łętowski says. “We want the Youth Cultural Centre to be a haven for seekers of cultural adventures.
Glinart workshops for adults will begin next week. They will be led by MDK teacher Joanna Mysłek-Michnowska.
