On Thursday, Robert Mazurek's guest on RMF FM radio was Adam Niedzielski, Minister of Health in the government of Mateusz Morawiecki. During the conversation, R. Mazurek reminded the Minister of Health of Jarosław Kaczyński's words that Law and Justice would never agree to the privatization of hospitals or medical services. We wrote about this ward in an article published on May 16: PLN 1,200 per day at a private child psychiatry ward in Bolesławiec.
Minister Niedzielski replied that this was indeed the case. Mazurek then mentioned that the Child Psychiatry Ward was just being opened at St. Luke's Hospital in Bolesławiec, where treatment costs PLN 1,200 per day.
The minister's reaction? Adam Niedzielski:
If such a situation is indeed taking place (...), especially in the case of psychiatry, as I understand it, for children, then this is a phenomenon that I would call a scandal.
He added:
A situation in which advantage is, in a sense, taken of the enormous demand for these services, making it possible to dictate virtually any price because parents are, of course, willing to pay any amount of money, is simply a form of unethical conduct.
The minister announced that he would discuss the matter with the head of the National Health Fund: – We will see whether this is within the bounds of the law; we will investigate the matter very thoroughly.
We were unable to contact the director of St. Luke's Hospital in Bolesławiec. We will return to the subject.
