Shared fun, activities, competitions and plenty of delicious food—many attractions awaited the picnic guests. Animals were also present and brought everyone great joy. The children, who had earlier prepared artwork for a competition inspired by the picnic’s name, received prizes and commemorative diplomas.
A pleasant surprise was a live mascot, whom everyone eagerly hugged.
Bolesławiec County Starost Tomasz Gabrysiak handed foster parents letters of thanks and expressed his admiration for their dedication:
I would like to sincerely thank you for what you do. Thanks to you, children in foster care can experience love, the warmth of a home and the sense of security that is so important. Unfortunately, the number of children entering foster care is increasing year by year.
The event was met with great appreciation and brought much joy, especially since over the previous two years families had had few opportunities to meet due to the pandemic. It was not only an opportunity to integrate, but above all to exchange experiences and offer mutual support.
There are 147 foster families in Bolesławiec County, including four professional foster families and two family-type children’s homes. At present, 240 children are in foster care. The number of children placed in foster care has been steadily increasing for several years. The County stated: – In response to needs and changes in the social situation, the number of professional foster families in Bolesławiec County is being continually increased.
