Friends of the Volkswagen Transporter organize nationwide rallies every year. In August, they will come to Bolesławiec for the Ceramic Festival. They will learn about the history of pottery, tour ceramic factories and take part in events and concerts organized during the festival.
A local resident of Bolesławiec, Waldemar Bogusz, invited the Busik Brotherhood to our town. He is the rally organizer and owner of a blue Transporter. “I want to show my colleagues the area around Bolesławiec and introduce them to our town,” says Bogusz. “The Ceramic Festival and all the events associated with it provide excellent entertainment.”
As part of their rally in the city of ceramics, the van enthusiasts decided to design special commemorative stickers in a stamp-like style. “The leaflet prepared for our guests contains information about both the founding of Bolesławiec and its turbulent history, as well as economic matters,” says Natalia Leniec, a member of the VW Transporter Enthusiasts’ Club. “Special attention has also been devoted to pottery culture and the ceramic industry. We are extremely pleased to promote our town nationally and sometimes internationally as well.”
The favorite vehicle of the Busik Brotherhood was created more than 50 years ago at a Volkswagen factory and was intended to transport materials around the plant. It was developed from the popular Beetle. Dutch importer Ben Pon, fascinated by the invention’s functionality, drew a sketch of the car he needed for work. He presented the drawing to Heinrich Nordhoff, the director of the Volkswagen plant. The first Type 1 began production in 1950, and Type 2 appeared in 1967.
