Based on the evidence gathered by police officers, the court granted the prosecutor’s request and decided to remand in custody a woman and a man directly connected with the case of the murder of a woman whose body was found in bushes by the Kaczawa River. The case was very difficult and required the officers to conduct many hours of analysis and multifaceted operational activities. Its resolution was made possible, among other things, by the use of new laboratory technologies. The people detained by officers were charged. The man was charged with murder and desecration of a human body, while the woman was charged with aiding the perpetrator.
Let us recall. – On 13 May 2023, Legnica police officers were informed that a body had been discovered by the Kaczawa River, hidden in dense bushes – reports Senior Asp. Łukasz Dutkowiak, press officer of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – A special police team was immediately sent to the scene. With the participation of a prosecutor, it conducted a detailed examination and secured every trace that could lead to the perpetrator of the crime.
Officers from the Legnica Department for Combating Crimes Against Life and Health, experts from the Forensic Laboratory of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, and criminal division specialists who had previously worked on the most complex cases of this kind also immediately began their work. Spokesperson: – Detailed, many-hour analyses of every piece of evidence collected, the identification of suspected individuals, and extensive, painstaking operational work produced rapid results.
He adds: – The new technologies used by the officers provided the basis for identifying the perpetrator. It turned out that a Legnica resident could be connected with the case. His arrest was only a matter of time.
On Tuesday, officers located and arrested a 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman who could also be connected with the woman’s murder. Provincial Police Headquarters:
The evidence gathered by police investigators allowed prosecutors in Legnica to bring two charges against the man, relating to murder and desecration of a body, while the woman was charged with aiding the perpetrator.
Officers: – The 37-year-old man, who had previously been convicted, could face up to life imprisonment for the crime. The woman could face up to five years in prison for helping to cover up traces of the crime.
