– On Friday evening, officers from the Gryfów police station received information from firefighters with OSP Wolbromów that an object potentially posing a pyrotechnic hazard had been found in a stream near their fire station – reports Senior Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
A police bomb-disposal specialist was dispatched to the site and determined that it was a component of a mortar shell. The spokesperson adds: – The unexploded ordnance was secured by Gryfów police officers until the arrival of a bomb-disposal patrol from Bolesławiec.
