Wiktoria Eliaszewicz from Bolesławiec, a student at the Władysław Broniewski General Secondary School No. 1, has taken part in dozens of song contests, not only in Poland but abroad as well. The Bolesławiec resident has had the opportunity to perform for Macedonian and Italian audiences. Soon, she will be heard at the 43rd KONIN International Children’s Song and Dance Festival, where she will perform the iconic song “My and Your Hope” by the band Hey.

How did Wiktoria’s adventure with music begin? – As early as the fourth grade of primary school, I asked my mother to let me sign up for singing lessons – recalls the teenage vocalist.

At first, she attended classes at the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre. But at some point, she decided that she wanted something more.

She then studied classical singing in Legnica for a year. But once again, she concluded that it was not the right path. She has now been studying popular singing for three years. – I noticed tremendous progress after just two months – Wiktoria admits.

It was at the Legnica School of Popular Music, Singing and Speech that she was encouraged to take part in vocal competitions. As it turned out, it was a bull’s-eye. – It’s really great fun – the talented Bolesławiec singer says. – It teaches you how to handle yourself on stage. Singing live and sharing music with people is an incredible thing – she adds. She does not hide the fact that music is both her passion and her work, and that she sees her future in singing.

Asked about her favourite musical genre, she answers: pop rock. – Michael Jackson has amazing songs – Wiktoria says. But her repertoire also includes poetic and religious songs. What is more, the young Bolesławiec resident, who also plays the piano and guitar, composes her own songs: – Mr Marek Łętowski helped me a great deal; he steered me towards songwriting and taught me to play the piano.

Her original Christmas carol “Sleep, Child, Sleep” won first prize at the National St Nicholas’ Day Christmas Carols and Pastorals Competition in Ustroń. – That carol was written very quickly; I wrote it in one day – the Bolesławiec songwriter says.

Wiktoria is currently writing more original songs. The song “The Rhythm of Life” will probably premiere – together with a music video! – as soon as June.

When will her debut album be released? – There’s still time for that – the vocalist replies. But she immediately adds that she would like a record label to take notice of her.
