Established in 1955 by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Europe Prize is the highest distinction awarded to a European town for its activities on the European stage. The prize is not only a diploma and a medal, but also a scholarship for a trip to European institutions for young people from the winning town.

This year, four other towns were also shortlisted for the prize – Rambouillet in France, Bamberg in Germany, Palanga in Lithuania and Odesa in Ukraine.

– All residents can be proud, because the contribution of many people has been recognized. The activities of not only the town authorities, but also the entire community, were assessed. For example, assistance to Ukraine was taken into account. I congratulate all the women and men of Bolesławiec on this prestigious distinction – says Piotr Roman, President of Bolesławiec.
