On April 24 this year, a fire alarm exercise was held at the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec. The uniformed personnel:

The exercise scenario assumed that a fire broke out in one of the barracks buildings as a result of an electrical short circuit and quickly spread. After the alarm was announced, the duty services undertook the practical actions prescribed in the procedures and the fire protection plan.

They also add:

During the training, a practical evacuation and firefighting operation was demonstrated, including the evacuation of people from the threatened buildings to the designated assembly point, the evacuation and assistance of the injured, as well as procedures for cooperation between the duty services, the military and state fire services, and the medical evacuation team. The PSP rescue team also demonstrated the evacuation of an injured person from a multi-storey building using a mechanical ladder mounted on a vehicle, as well as the deployment of two heavy rescue and firefighting vehicles.

The second part of the exercise involved training on the rules for using portable firefighting equipment, combined with practical extinguishing of a controlled fire using an M18 Dromader firefighting aircraft.

And they add:

The aim of the training, attended by units of the Military Fire Service, the State Fire Service and the Medical Support Group, was to test the ability of personnel responsible for organizing a firefighting and evacuation operation at the unit to act appropriately, as well as to check the combat readiness of the forces and resources designated to participate in firefighting operations.

In addition to the artillery personnel, the training was attended by soldiers and employees of the Ministry of National Defence from military institutions in the Bolesławiec garrison, as well as US Armed Forces soldiers stationed in Bolesławiec.

The fire alarm exercise was prepared and conducted by the regiment’s fire protection inspector, Senior Staff Warrant Officer Grzegorz Szczęsny, with the participation of KP PSP Bolesławiec, WSP Świętoszów and WSP Dobre nad Kwisą, as well as Nadleśnictwo Bolesławiec.
