As officials from Gromadka Municipality report:
An oak tree—a natural monument—grew on the boundary between the villages of Modła and Patoka. It was commonly called “Mieszko.” Unfortunately, it died in 1982. It posed a threat to residents’ safety and was removed as scrap wood.
On Earth Day, another oak—Mieszko II—was planted in its place.
The ceremony was attended by children from the Primary School in Modła, residents of Modła and Patoka, and employees of the Gromadka Municipal Office.
Municipal officials:
A monument commemorating the previous oak is being prepared.
